Immaterial Touch
2025, taken during the Artist Residency «Mind the Gap» in Tenerife with Jojo Taylor and M. Lohrum
During this residency the three artists delve into the island of Tenerife with an attitude of deep listening and a clear desire to merge with the territory. They do not approach it as tourists or external observers, but as bodies willing to immerse themselves in the pulse of the place, to respond to its rhythms and to interact with it from an embodied sensibility.
The result of this immersion is a series of works that take shape in installations, audiovisual pieces, sound creations and performances, all generated in dialogue with the territory. The project developed (still wip) alludes to the literalness of the body giving itself to the landscape, but also to a symbolic gesture that suggests surrender, humility and openness. The works allude to environmental issues, pointing towards a broader reflection on the fragile ecological balance that defines the island of Tenerife today. A balance increasingly threatened by factors such as mass tourism, urban pressure, and the already visible effects of climate change. In this context, the body—understood as a living, vulnerable, and permeable organism—is integrated non-invasively into the ecosystem, and its presence in the landscape becomes a reminder of our interdependence with nature.
